Our journey started in 2020

KORORIN is named after a Japanese fairy tale, “ Omusubi Kororin.” Onigiri has been part of the Japanese diet for a long time. Our founder, Yuta, a Tokyo native, missed enjoying onigiri in the US during his busy grad school days. In July 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, he launched onigiri with his business partner Cristina, transformed his personal car into a delivery vehicle called "Onigiri Shuttle," venturing into Chicago's streets to drop off onigiris in random parking spots in Chicago. Today, Kororin proudly offers its grab-and-go onigiri in grocery stores throughout Chicago.
